Proposed Modifications to the Soft Sand Review of the West Sussex Joint Minerals Local Plan - Representations Period

Closed 8 Jan 2021

Opened 9 Nov 2020

This is the website for the "Proposed modifications to the Soft Sand Review of the West Sussex Joint Minerals Local Plan" -  Representations Period (09 November 2020 – 08 January 2021).

The Proposed Submission Draft Soft Sand Review of the West Sussex Joint Minerals Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State following a period of representations on the Review's soundness and legal and procedural compliance.  Examination hearings took place in August 2020, during which the Government-appointed Inspector indicated that the submitted changes need to be modified to make them ‘sound’ and suitable for adoption.

Accordingly, the Authorities have prepared a schedule of Proposed Modifications to the Soft Sand Review.  These Proposed Modifications are now subject to a further period of representations, on their 'soundness'.

This website includes links to a guidance note explaining how representations should be made at this stage, the form required for submitting representations, a copy of the Proposed Modifications, and the Authorities' Statement of Representations Procedure, which sets out details of the consultation including where relevant documents can be viewed.

You are strongly advised to read the Guidance Notes before completing the form. All representations should be received no later than 11.59pm on Friday 8 January 2021.

What happens next

Following the close of the representations period, the Authorities will submit the representations to the Planning Inspector.  The Inspector will consider the representations before reporting whether the proposed changes (as modified) are ‘sound’ and issue his report.

If the proposed changes, and therefore the Soft Sand Review, are found to be 'sound', they will be adopted by both Authorites as formal changes to the Joint Minerals Local Plan.
