Closed 13 Mar 2017

Opened 16 Jan 2017

This is the website for the "West Sussex Joint Minerals Local Plan Proposed Submission Draft" Representations Period (16 January – 13 March 2017).

The Proposed Submission Draft West Sussex Joint Minerals Local Plan has been published prior to its submission to the Secretary of State. This is to allow for representations to be made on the Plan’s soundness and legal compliance. These representations will be considered by an independent Planning Inspector at a future examination.

This website includes links to a guidance note explaining how representations should be made at this stage, the form required for submitting representations, a copy of the Proposed Submission Draft Plan, and the Authorities' Statement of Representations Procedure, which sets out details of the consultation including where relevant documents can be viewed.

You are strongly advised to read the Guidance Notes before completing the form. All representations should be received no later than 5pm on Monday 13 March 2017.

If you need this information in an alternative format then please contact us on 01243 642118, and we will do our best to assist you.

What Happens Next

Following the close of the representations period, the Authorities are now collating and reviewing the representations. The authorities are preparing to submit the Plan to the Secretary of State, alongside the representations and supporting evidence. If any representations include matters which suggest changes to the Plan, the Authorities will consider the appropriate way to proceed before the document is submitted. The representations will be considered by an independent Planning Inspector at a future Independent Examination.

The Plan is expected to be heard at an examination between July and October 2017 in line with the West Sussex Minerals and Waste Development Scheme. If the Inspector considers that substantive issues are raised he/she may request that the representor attend a hearing session to discuss the issue. If the document is considered ‘sound’ by the Inspector it is anticipated that the Authorities will consider adopting the Plan in May 2018.
