Overview

West Sussex County Council Learning and Development are planning to develop a Leadership and Management training programme for Care Provider Managers, this will involve several modules. The aim of this programme is to support West Sussex Care Providers to be 'Well Led', as it is recognised that a care establishment that is 'well led' has happy motivated staff and therefore the people in their care obtain better outcomes for their own health and wellbeing. It is also one of the five key areas that CQC inspect against and results have shown that if a business is Well Led the other key areas often follow likewise.

The programme will be developed based on a highly successful Value Centred Leadership Programme (VCLP) that has been undertaken by all West Sussex County Council managers over the last 2-3 years. Here are some quotes from participants who have undertaken this training

"I have completed a number of the VCLP courses & have found them all really useful for my everyday work. Some of the learning about things like communication & team work have been really helpful to me."

"The values centred leadership programme has really supported my personal development in the managers role. The modules have given knowledge and clarity to enable to progress and develop in management for myself and for my team."

Why We Are Consulting

This would initially be run as a twelve month pilot with one group of managers and the modules would include:

  • Introduction to the Programme
  • Your Responsibilities as a Care Manager
  • Personal Resilience
  • High Performing Teams
  • Coaching for Performance
  • Collaborative Working
  • Crucial Conversations
  • Managing in changing times

WSCC is considering further developing our internal Value Centred Leadership Programme to provide a Leadership & Management Programme for the Care sector at a subsidised fee rate. This consultation is to help us understand the level of interest, organisations have, in taking up this programme before we embark on any development
