We Asked

The consultation was about how clear the Post-16 Transport Policy statement was.

You Said

Three-quarters of respondents thought it was clear.

We Did

We have included information about other colleges as suggested, in the 2019-20 version. There were comments about plain English and this year we have adopted the new suggested template as suggested by the Department of Education.’

The County Council publishes a Post-16 Transport Policy Statement each year. This outlines the help that might be available through the County Council, schools, colleges and transport operators to help young people of sixth form age and young adult learners aged 19+ who have an Education Health and Care Plan to get to school and college. It also includes information such as the Council’s home to school and college transport policy, contacts and information about fares and concessions.

You can find out more in the supporting documents below:

Why We Are Consulting

The aim of the consultation is to check that the Policy Statement and related information is complete, clear and accurate. Prices will be updated as information is released by transport operators.

Rail Travel Update - The Department for Transport announced in 2018 that it would be developing a ticket scheme to reduce the cost of rail travel to 16-18 year olds. The Sussex Student Card will therefore be reviewed when full details of the new Government scheme are released.

We would like to gather views from young people, parents and other interested parties about the draft policy statement for 2019-20.

Please complete this short survey to help us.

What Happens Next

The views from the consultation will help to determine whether the existing format is helpful or whether changes should be made to improve the presentation.
