Overview

What is this about?

The council pays for support and services that help people to stay living well in their own homes and helps them to get a job.

Why We Are Consulting

In April 2020 there will be a new contract for delivering this type of support.

The council wants to find out what you think about our ideas for how this support will be delivered from 2020.

What is community based social support?

Here is a list of services the council currently pays for:

  • Workaid and Work Preparation (run by Aldingbourne Trust)
  • Workability (run by Impact)
  • My Network and My Network Plus (a number of different organisations run local services)
  • Out There (run by Dimensions)
  • Business Buddies (run by Manor Green College & Potential Diamond)
  • LIMA (run by Alongside Autism)
  • Gig Buddies (run by Stay up Late)

What help do they offer?

  • Support to get paid or voluntary work
  • Support to take part in sport or leisure
  • Support for autistic people
  • Practical support to help people living in their own homes
  • Information and advice on lots of different things which helps people stay well and independent.

In 2017/18, 2014 people accessed these community based services. There are 10 different local voluntary organisations holding these contracts. Contracts end in March 2020 and there will be a tender for a new contract to start April 2020.

Please take a look at the stakeholder report which has more detailed information and the other ways you can make your views known.  Both the survey and stakeholder report are available in easy read at the bottom of this webpage. Dates of engagement events with service users are below with further details from advocacy@impact-initiatives.org.uk

What Happens Next

All information received will be used to further develop the councils plans and how we will contract this support.

Final decisions will be made by the Cabinet Member in April 2019.

The procurement (competitive purchasing) exercise for future contracts will then start in July 2019 for a start date on 1st April 2020.
